The Golf Croquet Ranking System started purely as an in-house system for players within the UK. However where overseas players were involved in tournaments which were input to the ranking system, all such results were included in the ranking calculations but overseas players were not shown in any final listings. Towards the end of 2001, the CA Ranking Officer agreed with the WCF (World Croquet Federation) that the system would be suitable for expansion to a world-wide basis and that he would undertake the expansion.
Regrettably a major force in the Golf Croquet world , the Egyptian Croquet Federation has decided that it does not want to participate in the system and plans to enlarge the system to a world wide basis have been put on hold. However other countries have been willing to continue submitting results of tournaments in their areas, and they have been entered into the system to build up a database of golf croquet players that would be very helpful if a full world system is established at a later date. A ranking list based on all the data submitted but subject to the 10 games since 01/01/2002 criteria is now published on this site and described as an "International Ranking" It does include several Egyptian players who were in the 2002 World Championship and have played in UK tournaments. The Ranking Officer accepts that due to the limited data, the international rankings may not truly reflect a players ability in all cases. As at 12 Aug 2003 there are over 4900 results in the system from 436 players of whom 189 players are registered as not UK. The Swiss, Italian and USA Championships have now been input into the system.

It is regretted
that due to the very high work load caused by the organisation of the World
Golf Croquet Championships in England in June 2004, work on the ranking
system has had to be temporally abandoned. Although many offers of help
have been received, it is not practical to transfer the inputting of data
to another person without specific training on the database system that
is being used. It is intended that all data that has been submitted will
be inputted to the system and a fully updated ranking will be available
some time during Aug 2004. Please keep submitting the results of tournaments.
They will eventually be used.
